The Social Cooperative independent L. ONLUS

The Social Cooperative Society independent L. was founded by nine people in wheelchairs in the year 1997, in order to promote the social integration of physically disabled people in all areas of everyday life, like family, leisure time, school, work, and holiday, so as to guarantee the right of a self-determined life.
A self-determined life means that the big and small daily decisions are made autonomously. Based on the principle of reciprocity independent L. sees itself as a social cooperative “of affected for affected” and as main point of consultation and point of reference for all people with physical disabilities in South Tyrol.

 

Social consultation for physically disabled people

To live, means to deal with certain tasks every day, some of them are essential, others simply have a certain importance to us personally.
A physical disablement or new tasks lead to changes that are often very difficult and seem unsolvable…
This service is for everyone who has to or wants to organize his life and needs help in doing so. Together with experts (social consultants, social assistants, educators, technicians, legal advisers) requirements and resources are found that you yourself or your surroundings have, to solve problems as best as possible.

Who is the target of our offers?

All people who have a temporary or permanent physical disability. We work with children , adults and affected elderly people and with all those in the sphere of disabled people, so as to say relatives, friends, but also experts of social and sanitary services.
Departing from the principle of solidarity and reciprocity, independent L. sees itself as a social cooperative society “of affected for affected” and as main point of consultation and point of reference for all people with physical disabilities in South Tyrol.

Exhibition of auxiliary materials

The Social Cooperative independent L. presents state-of-the-art auxiliary materials in a permanent exhibition that enables the improvement of the independence and quality of life of people with motor, cognitive and sensory disabilities and elderly or ill people.
The exhibited products can be looked at and tested, they make access to computers and computer-controlled systems easier, playfully animate children to simple and complex learning processes and make the control of one’s own home possible.
For the better orientation in this diversified offer, a professional advisory service is at your side who is specialized in the field of electronic auxiliary materials and control of surroundings.
The qualified team offers consultation, helps you find the adequate instrument, offers assistance for the purchase, training and personalization of the adequate auxiliary material and provides information on possible grants. The service is not only for affected people but also for all those people who work together with people with special needs: employees of social and sanitary services, nursery-school teachers and teachers, employers, nursing members of the family, accommodations, organizations, etc. All these can inform themselves by independent L. on the great range of technical and electronic auxiliary materials and can be trained in special training courses.

Advisory service for the reduction of architectonic barriers

Unfortunately many people who are disabled in their capacity to act, in their sight or hearing, partly still feel discriminated, due to the fact that a step or the width of a door can be a hindrance to their daily life.
The Social Cooperative independent L. has been successfully active for years in the reduction of architectonic barriers. Our team is composed of an architect, a geometrician and other affected people with many years of experience in this area.
The Social Cooperative independent L. offers a general consultancy during which it provides all its know how regarding the reduction of architectonic barriers, which of course bear in mind the relevant regulations that are in force.

Advanced training and professional integration

One of the main goals of the Social Cooperative independent L. is the professional reintegration of disabled people. Therefore, since 1999, we offer the affected people the possibility to be trained in order to become a qualified person in the fields of informatics, telematics and multimedia. The so acquired expertise enable disabled people an adequate professional integration, professional qualifications or retraining in the field of administration and IT. People with bad motoric disabilities can also complete our courses. All this is possible with the support of the European Social Fund (ESF).
The courses for professional integration of disabled people have had a very positive balance up until now. The past courses for professional integration have shown that an effective occupational integration is possible, thanks to an individual training in the IT area and by means of a tight cooperation with the various employment centres. Course graduates have very concrete perspectives of getting a job that take account of their individual skills and tendencies, but also of the motoric restrictions of the participants.
The specialist courses in informatics, telematics and multimedia, for the professional integration in the fields of administration and IT have a duration of nine months. Focuses are a practical training and a work placement in a company. As additional professional qualification, all seven modules of the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) are successfully completed.

Since its foundation, independent L. has had the goal to support and activate all forms of communication which are made possible by means of modern technologies (IT).
Today our company has a modern web centre with highly qualified employees.
Disabled and non disabled people work together in a team with great success and offer private and public customers a complete service:
