From Bolzano you follow the main road leading to San Genesio. It goes over the top of the village, following signs for Valas - Meltina. Once you arrive at the location Schermoos, where you began the descent towards Meltina, you park.

The plateau of Salten is known by all the inhabitants of Bolzano, it has beautiful pastures with trees and a magnificent panorama. The forest road, which crosses the moderate undulations, can be walked along without great difficulty. Direct access to the route from San Genesio (hotel Stella Alpina), includes a section of asphalt road with a considerable slope.

Description

From the car park of Schermoos (1453 m) follow the road that runs in a gentle slope around the northern slopes of the hill of Langfenn and leads to the pastures of Langfenn (1481 m) . To the right a small road winds uphill, leading to the refuge Lafenn (1527 m). Closeby the ancient church of San Giacomo stands in a panoramic position. It continues towards south - east and climbs up again slightly in Rabenbühel (1493 m) . Continue along the road with moderate slopes, it allows you to cross the plateau of Salten. Leaving aside the deviations that lead to different pasture plots, we arrive in the vicinity of the site Saltner (1467 m) , where we  find a masonry house. At the end of the soil road, a stretch of paved road bigins, which slopes sharply down to the hotel Stella Alpina (1351 m). To return, follow the same route back to the car park.
