The train station of Castelbello is very accessible.
From Ciardes the train reaches the train station of Castelbello (587 m a.s.l.) in 3,6 km, the station also has a bike rental.
From the platform you can cross the level crossing and a bridge, after around 200 m you get to the SAD bus stop of the line 101 (Merano - Silandro - Malles), positioned on the main road.
The actual village centre with parish church lies at 400 m distance of the train station.
The Castel Castelbello is enthroned above Castelbello: it was built in the year around 1200, after its renovation it was opened to the public. The castle has a chapel with frescos of the 14th and 15th century and houses a permanent exhibition with the title "Via Claudia Augusta", the first emperor street going over the Alps and through the Val Venosta valley. In the direction of the tourist office, along the river Adige and over the bridge, there is a great sporting zone with a skateboard park, a football pitch, a tennis court, a beach volleyball pitch and an open air swimming pool. The area also offers many sunny walking paths.
