Train station of Lasa (Laas)

The train station of Lasa is very accessible and can be easily reached on a foot path from the approx. 100 m distant village centre. The train reaches the station of Lasa after 7 km, starting from Silandro. In the vicinity of the platform there is a SAD bus stop of the line 101 (Merano - Silandro - Malles). Lasa (868 m a.s.l.) belongs to the central part of the Val Venosta valley and is famous for its white marble. The marble quarries of Lasa are directly next to the station, where a railway carriage informs you on the history of the excavation of marble of Lasa. Important buildings and monuments in the whole world are made out of the Lasa marble, it is valued for its purity and its resistance. The marble quarries can be visited in a guided tour. The town hall of Lasa is very beautiful and a nice walk takes you to one of the oldest churches of the Val Venosta valley, to St. Sisinius.
